Terms Watch

What the AI vendors' contracts actually say — and the week they change it. Free, weekly, no login.

Why it exists

Your rate card is reviewed by three people before you sign. The terms behind it are reviewed by nobody.

OpenAI's price changes take effect fourteen days after a web page is edited. Anthropic's take thirty. Neither of those clocks starts when somebody tells you — they start when the vendor edits a page you aren't watching.

Terms Watch watches the pages. Every issue reports what changed, what it means for an agreement you have already signed, and the question worth asking before you sign the next one.

Dated, not asserted

Every table carries the date it was verified. Provider terms change without announcement — that is the whole reason this exists — so anything ageing gets flagged rather than quietly reused.

Traceable to the source

Section numbers cited wherever they exist — OpenAI Services Agreement §6.6, Anthropic Commercial Terms §H.1 — so you can open the document and check the claim yourself.

Corrections published

When something here turns out to be wrong, the correction runs in the next issue with a date on it. Nothing is quietly edited after the fact.

Get it every Friday

Please don't include confidential or client-identifying information — this reaches us by email through our forms provider.

By submitting you agree to our Terms of Use and confirm you are not sending confidential or client-identifying information.

Want earlier issues? Ask in the comments box and we'll send them. Already subscribed and want off the list? Say so there too — no form to hunt for, no dark patterns.

The current issue

Read the latest one free, right now

The most recent issue is always here, in full, with no email required. Earlier issues go to subscribers on request — terms move, so a back issue is a dated record of what a vendor said at a point in time, which is occasionally the most useful thing in the file. Ask in the comments box above and we'll send them.

Terms Watch is a free newsletter, and it is not legal advice. It reports what AI vendors publish in their own terms, pricing pages and documentation, with the date each item was checked. What any of it means for your specific agreement is a conversation with your counsel — and we are happy to be in that conversation, but this newsletter is not it.
